Newsletter 112 - Monthly subscriptions are coming
Plus return of our 'music to work to' playlists. Will your playlist be next?
Hello,
Here’s your weekly read from The Old Post Office (TOPO)
For this week’s newsletter we were due to promote an event Craftspace are holding at the coworking space.. and it sold out so quickly that you’ve already missed out. Sorry about that! If you want to know more about the event, even though you can’t go, there’s information below.
We mentioned it last week - we are now trialling monthly subscriptions - including a pre-christmas sign-up discount. Chat to Pendra either on email (theoldpostofficestirchley@gmail.com) or when you’re next in the coworking space about it if you’re interested in hearing more and being our ‘guinea pigs’. We will be getting info up on our website shortly.
The rest of this week’s accountability sessions:
- Wednesday evening from 6pm-9.30pm
- Friday morning from 9.30am-12.30pm (coworking space opens at 9am).
See you this week? Book your desk online.
Have a good week!
— Team TOPO
Crochet post box topper & craft evening
Last week we shared the news that we’re creating a community crochet post box topper for the post box outside the coworking space. If you are a crocheter and would like to join us making a post box topper, please let us know by emailing us on theoldpostofficestirchley@gmail.com or instagram DM.
We will be having a craft evening Thursday 28 November from 6pm-8pm where we’ll be assembling / creating the topper. You’re welcome to join us - just let us know so we can plan the snacks.
‘Workshop in a Box’ testers needed*!
We’re really happy to host Birmingham-based contemporary craft education charity Craftspace in a few weeks - they have hired our venue for a new endeavour. *Please note, tickets for this event have now sold out - but we would still like to spread the word about what Craftspace are working on*
Craftspace invite you to take part in a free craft workshop at The Old Post Office, to help test a new product they are developing - a ‘Workshop in a Box’ – to be launched early in 2025. The proceeds from this new product will help Craftspace raise funds for their charitable work (Craftspace is a registered charity - 1001237).
“Are you interested in making?
Have you had a go at craft kits before?
Are you a keen hobbyist that would like to try out something new?
Are you interested in exploring new materials and tools in order to learn explore new techniques?
Are you happy to give feedback by answering a questionnaire after you have had a go?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then this is the event for you!
At this workshop tester event you will get a chance to try out a ‘Workshop in a Box’ or even two, depending on how engrossed you get. There are four activity boxes to choose from:
Paper Craft – cutting, folding and manipulation, developed by Clare Pentlow.
Collage, Mark-making & Stitch - working with a range of media to create small collages, developed by Amber Yearsley.
Jewellery from found and upcycled objects – developed with Dauvit Alexander and BCU School of Jewellery.
Off loom weaving - learning hand held weaving techniques, developed with Sarah-May Johnson.”
*sorry, as mentioned above - this has already sold out - the same day it was published. If you want to find out the latest Craftspace events you can sign up for their Eventbrite updates or visit their website!
Music to work to
We have a new Music to work to playlist:
Andrea is a Chartered professional communicator and has worked in both communications agencies and in-house. She currently works in the public sector, and you’ll find her at TOPO a few times a month (depending on workload).
She also volunteers with the Chartered Institute for Public Relations and the Government Communications Service, and coordinates the activities of Stirchley’s Is This Tomorrow book club.
Enjoy!
We are on the lookout for more coworkers up for sharing a playlist - if you would be interested please either reply to this email / theoldpostofficestirchley@gmail.com or if you are in our coworkers whatsapp chat, drop Kerry a message.

Stirchley residents will have likely seen the news that McDonalds are consulting on their proposals to build a drive-thru on Hazelwell Lane. There is a petition against the plans, which you can sign should you agree. When there is actually a planning application submitted you’ll be able to find more info on superstirchley.wordpress.com.
